چکیده
Tau protein is a microtubule associated mainly expressed in neurons. Under pathological conditions, abnormally hyperphosphorylated and separated from microtubules. Abnormal aggregates form nerve fiber tangles, which are insoluble the brain. It due to rupture caused by dysfunction it with neurofibrillar degeneration Alzheimer's disease. This paper studies several reports research on structure function of protein, role diseases its relationship neurodegenerative diseases. This concludes that has undergone abnormal modification aggregation many diseases, but specific type causes neurotoxicity, as well pathogenesis phosphorylation functional injury inducing apoptosis, still not fully understood. Various modifications occur under fatal cascade events at different stages neuron apoptosis. Therefore, effects cytotoxicity mediated very complicated. Different or even opposite conclusions sometimes drawn protein-mediated neurodegeneration studies. may be differences type, gene mutation expression level.

P 97: Neurodegeneration Induced by Tau protein
Tau is one of several types of microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs), responsible for the assembly and stability of microtubule networks that is present only in neurons and predominantly localized in axons which its functions are tightly regulated by phosphorylation. Via as yet unknown mechanisms, tau becomes hyperphosphorylated and accompanies with neuronal degeneration, loss of synapses...
متن کاملAstrocyte pathology in a human neural stem cell model of frontotemporal dementia caused by mutant TAU protein
Astroglial pathology is seen in various neurodegenerative diseases including frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which can be caused by mutations in the gene encoding the microtubule-associated protein TAU (MAPT). Here, we applied a stem cell model of FTD to examine if FTD astrocytes carry an intrinsic propensity to degeneration and to determine if they can induce non-cell-autonomous effects in neig...
متن کاملDistinct profiles of brain atrophy in frontotemporal lobar degeneration caused by progranulin and tau mutations☆
Neural network breakdown is a key issue in neurodegenerative disease, but the mechanisms are poorly understood. Here we investigated patterns of brain atrophy produced by defined molecular lesions in the two common forms of genetically mediated frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD). Nine patients with progranulin (GRN) mutations and eleven patients with microtubule-associated protein tau (MA...
متن کاملModel Hirano Bodies Protect against Tau-Independent and Tau-Dependent Cell Death Initiated by the Amyloid Precursor Protein Intracellular Domain
The main pathological hallmarks of Alzheimer's disease are amyloid-beta plaques and neurofibrillary tangles, which are primarily composed of amyloid precursor protein (APP) and tau, respectively. These proteins and their role in the mechanism of neurodegeneration have been extensively studied. Hirano bodies are a frequently occurring pathology in Alzheimer's disease as well as other neurodegene...
